In Puerto Viejo you can choose between a hostel or a local homestay.
Hostel
At the hostel you can choose to stay in a 4-bed mixed dorm with shared facilities, or private single/double room with shared bathrooms. There is free WIFI, a common area to hang out when you are not attending classes as well as a kitchen where you can prepare your own meals. A safety deposit box is available in reception, and bikes are available for rent.
Local Homestay
You will have a private room and a shared bathroom in the package with homestay in Costa Rica. It always includes pick-up at the local bus station, an orientation in town, laundry servce and breakfast. Both lunch and dinner can be added if you wish at an additional cost. Food is typical Costa Rican so you will eat rice and beans, chicken, plantains and lots of fruit. We can only expect the local family to adapt their cooking a little bit to your specific dietary needs so if you eat for example gluten free, you will need to bring some products to supply the food that will be offered.
If you have booked our pick-up package from San José, we know what time you will be at the bus station, but without that package, you need to let us know what time you will arrive in Puerto Viejo so we can welcome you at the bus station and bring you to your host family in Puerto Viejo!
You have three options regarding transportation to the language school. You can either make your own way there, or choose the Total Bus Transfer package or a Total Shuttle Bus Transfer for a smooth arrival. The transfer and extra accommodation are NOT included in the price and will be booked separately.
Getting There On Your Own
Buy your own bus ticket from San Jose to Puerto Viejo as it can’t be pre-booked.
If you are staying at the hostel, meals are not included.
If you are staying at the homestay, breakfast is included. The food is typically Costa Rican, nevertheless, your host family can adapt a little on request (e.g. considering special dietary restrictions).
